Robert Lee Thompson was born and raised in Indian River County Florida. He is retired from the U.S. Navy.
During the Korean Conflict he served aboard the Attack Transport U.S.S. Calvert (APA-32). While aboard this ship he took part in the Passage to Freedom operation when she lifted over 6,000 Indochinese civilians from Haiphong to southern Vietnam. During the Vietnam War-Conflict-Fracas-Mêlée, you get the point; he spent two tours in Vietnam with the U. S. Naval Construction Battalion Forty (MCB-40), better known as the "Fighting Forty."
After retiring he was a truck driver, a nuclear plant security officer in Saint Lucie County for fifteen years and did odd jobs while touring the United States.
He presently lives in Bristol, Connecticut.
